VACCINES PART 2

WHAT VETS DON’T TELL YOU ABOUT VACCINES by Catherine O’Driscoll

Catherine O’Driscoll’s book is full of advise and support from numerous vets including Christopher Day, Jean Dodds, Peter Gregory, John Saxton and James Newns to name but a few.  Also practical support and advice has been given by Dr Viera Scheiber.  It also includes people and animals

that has taken part in the Canine Health concern vaccine survey.

“Dr Dodds explained that there has been a significant increase in the frequency of autoimmune and allergic diseases in the pet population since the introduction of modified live virus vaccines.  According to Dr Dodds, a most eminent vet and researcher, autoimmune diseases have four main ‘triggers’: genetics, virus, or vaccines, sex hormones and stress.

The first of these is the animals or human’s genes.  In scientific terms, of the more than 40 diseases of autoimmune nature, susceptibility to almost all is strongly influenced by genes associated with the class 1 or class 2 major histcompatibility complex.  In lay terms, our dogs are inheriting a susceptibility to pain and premature death-but this inherited trait must be ‘triggered’ by something else.

In yet another paper, Dr. Dodds stated: “Immune-suppressant viruses of the retrovirus and parvovirus classes have recently been implicated as causes of bone marrow failure, immune mediated blood diswases, haematological malignancies (lymphoma and leukemia), dysregulation of humoral and cell-mediated immunity, organ failure (liver, kidney), and autoimmune endocrine disorders- especially of the thyroid gland (thyroiditis), adrenal gland (Addison’s disease), and pancreas (diabetes). Viral disease and recent vaccination with single or combination modified live virus vaccines, especially those containing distemper, adenovirus 1 or 2 and parvovirus, are increasingly recognized contributors to immune –mediated blood diseases, bone marrow failure, and organ dysfunction.”

Dr Dodds listed other possible triggers for autoimmune disease including sex hormones, advising dog owners not to vaccinate their bitches whilst pregnant or during or close to their seasons. Also stress might play a role: don’t vaccinate your dog while under stress from leaving the mother and litter mates and introduced to new surrounding, or after heavy physical exercise. Dr Dodds also mentions nutritional influences as a factor involved in vaccine reactions. Adverse drug reactions are another trigger

But, it seems, that the term, ‘vaccinosis’ ( a morbid reaction to vaccines) is indeed a whole range of symptoms – and different peole (animals or humans) can exhibit one, several, or even all of the symptoms as a direct result of vaccination.
